President: Poland sets NATO's benchmark for defence spending
Polish President Andrzej Duda has stated that Poland is the "vanguard" of NATO in terms of defence spending and military modernization, with other countries envious of Warsaw's achievements.
"In NATO, we are the absolute vanguard, especially when it comes to defence spending and, accordingly, spending on modernisation," Duda noted, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
He noted that during interactions with representatives of neighbouring countries, particularly those from the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance, they look at Warsaw with envy due to its effectiveness in the defence sector.
Previously, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the EU must arm itself to survive in an increasingly uncertain global order. Poland's military budget for 2025 is 186 billion zlotys (approximately $45 billion), which accounts for 4.7 per cent of the country's GDP.
