Magnitude 6.2 earthquake strikes off Russia’s Kamchatka coast

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has been recorded off the coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, according to the regional branch of the Federal Research Centre of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The epicentre was located approximately 332 kilometres from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, while the earthquake’s focus was recorded at a depth of 63.8 kilometres, Caliber.Az reports.

Kamchatka lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the world’s most seismically active regions, where earthquakes and volcanic activity are frequent.
