US-made Avenger defence system guarding airspace in northern Ukraine
The protection of the airspace of the Northern Operational Zone of the Ukraine Armed Forces has been strengthened by the US-made Avenger air defence system, which is already on alert.
According to the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Serhiy Naev, the air defence system was transferred to Ukraine by partners from the United States, reports Unian.
The Ukrainian crew operating the Avenger system has been trained in Germany.
Naev noted that Avenger air defence systems could provide short-range mobile air defence for civilian infrastructure, security and defence sector units from cruise missiles, attack drones, aircraft and helicopters at low altitudes. The technique is "simple and very easy to operate", according to him.
