Trump expects expansion of Abraham accords
US President Donald Trump said the Abraham Accords were among the topics discussed during his recent meeting with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman at the White House, according to comments he made following US media reports late on July 3.
"It's one of the things we talked about," Trump stated. "I think a lot of people are going to be joining the Abraham accords," he added, referring to the potential expansion of the normalisation agreements and citing the impact of recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran, Caliber.Az reports via Reuters.
Axios reported that following the meeting with Trump, Prince Khalid held a phone conversation with Abdolrahim Mousavi, chief of Iran's General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The meeting between Trump and the Saudi official took place shortly before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s planned visit to Washington next week.
