US ready to support further talks on Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process State Department says
US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller has said that the US always looks forward to organising a meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
He made the remarks during a Department press briefing on September 16, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Department’s website.
“So I don’t have any announcements to make. Obviously we always look for opportunities to convene the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. We continue to support the efforts of both countries to reach a durable and dignified peace agreement. They have made significant progress towards finalizing a peace agreement, and we’re committed to supporting them in any way that we can, including convening a meeting if that’s helpful,” Miller noted.
To recap, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia met in Washington on July 10 this year on the summit's margins dedicated to the 75th anniversary of NATO.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Armenian counterpart agreed to continue work on the peace agreement.
The sides noted the progress made by Azerbaijan and Armenia towards the conclusion of the historic peace agreement and the establishment of interstate relations, and agreed to continue work in this direction.
