US spots four Russian warplanes near Alaska
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has announced that it detected and tracked the flight of four Russian military aircraft in international airspace near Alaska.
“The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) detected and tracked two Tu-95s and two Su-35s operating in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on Sept. 24, 2025,” the Command's statement on X reads, Caliber.Az reports.
The Command noted that it "responded with an E-3, four F-16s, and four KC-135 tankers to positively identify and intercept in the Alaskan ADIZ."
NORAD also said that the Russian military aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter the sovereign airspace of Canada or the United States.
Although the U.S. does not consider Russia’s activity in international airspace near Alaska to be a threat, the statement asserts.
