UzAirports signs cooperation deal with Xi’an airport to expand air links
UzAirports has signed a memorandum of understanding with representatives of Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, paving the way for closer cooperation between the aviation hubs in Uzbekistan and north-west China.
The agreement, confirmed on April 16, 2026, is aimed at strengthening collaboration in both passenger and cargo transport, while enhancing the role of the two airports within regional and international aviation networks.
According to Uzbek media, the memorandum was concluded during a visit by a delegation from UzAirports and outlines plans for closer operational coordination, as well as potential development of new air routes between the two sides.
UzAirports said the partnership is expected to support growing demand for air connectivity between Central Asia and China, as both sides look to expand their strategic transport links.
Xi’an Xianyang International Airport—the largest airport in north-west China—handled 48.5 million passengers in 2025, underscoring its increasing importance as a major regional aviation hub.
