WSJ: Remote talks may bring Iran and US closer on key issues
Regional mediators have recommended that Tehran and Washington continue negotiations in a remote format in order to gradually narrow their positions, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports, citing sources.
According to the publication, the continuation of dialogue online could help bring the sides closer in the interests of achieving mutual understanding.
WSJ further adds that the United States intends to continue talks with Iran and, in the coming days, will present its response along with counterproposals to the Islamic Republic’s plan.
Earlier, the Al Mayadeen TV channel reported that Iran had submitted a three-stage proposal to mediators outlining a framework for talks with the United States.
The first stage focuses on ending military actions and obtaining security guarantees for Iran and Lebanon. The second stage addresses the governance of the Strait of Hormuz after the conflict ends, while the third stage involves discussions on Tehran’s nuclear program.
Iran insists that its nuclear dossier can only be addressed after agreements are reached on the first two stages.
