WSJ: Trump administration approves sale of long-range missiles to Ukraine
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has approved the sale of 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles to Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing U.S. government sources.
The $850 million weapons package will be largely financed by European countries. Initial deliveries are expected within six weeks.
According to the report, the transfer of ERAMs was delayed until after Trump’s negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The missiles, which have a range of 240 to 450 kilometres, may require separate operational approval from the Pentagon before deployment.
While Washington has not officially announced the ERAM deliveries, other Western-supplied weapons have already reached Ukraine, including air defence systems and Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) munitions with a range of up to 145 kilometres.
