Pilot killed in Robinson R44 helicopter crash in Poland

A 30-year-old pilot was killed when a Robinson R44 Raven helicopter crashed in a remote area of southern Poland on Thursday, local officials said.

The aircraft went down in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, prompting an immediate deployment of emergency services. Search and rescue teams navigated challenging terrain to locate the crash site.

"I confirm that the search team has already located the wreckage of the aircraft in an inaccessible area. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old pilot died," said Anna Zbroja-Zagórska, a spokesperson for the regional police headquarters, in a statement to the internet portal Wirtualna Polska.

Initial assessments indicate that adverse weather conditions may have been a factor in the accident. State authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
