Beckham to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star ahead of World Cup 2026
Former England captain David Beckham is set to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, days before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that Beckham will receive the accolade on 12 June, as the United States prepares to co-host football's biggest tournament alongside Canada and Mexico, The Tribune writes.
Beckham, 51, is widely regarded as one of England's most influential footballers and global sporting figures. During a career spanning more than two decades, he won six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League with Manchester United, before securing league titles with Real Madrid in Spain and Paris Saint-Germain in France.
The midfielder earned 115 caps for England between 1996 and 2009, scoring 17 goals and captaining the national side on 59 occasions. He represented England at three World Cups and remains one of the country's most recognisable sporting ambassadors.
The honour comes as attention turns to the expanded 2026 World Cup, which will feature a record 48 teams and 1,248 players, making it the largest tournament in FIFA history.
Argentina arrive as defending champions after defeating France on penalties in the dramatic 2022 final in Qatar, with Lionel Messi leading his country to a third World Cup title.
The 2026 tournament is scheduled to run from June 12 to July 30 across venues in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
