WSJ: Trump convenes defence firms to boost missile production
US President Donald Trump has invited Pentagon and major American defence companies to the White House to discuss accelerating the production of missiles and other types of munitions, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports, citing sources.
The outlet said Trump aims to push for faster rebuilding of US weapons stockpiles, which have been reduced amid the conflict with Iran.
The meeting is expected to include Deputy Secretary of Defence Stephen Feinberg, as well as executives from Lockheed Martin, RTX, Boeing, L3Harris, Northrop Grumman, and Honeywell Aerospace.
According to WSJ, the Pentagon has already reached preliminary agreements with manufacturers to increase production of Patriot and Tomahawk missiles.
However, Congress has yet to approve funding for these programs.
In its 2027 fiscal year budget proposal, the US military has requested $52.9 billion to expand production of 12 key types of munitions, including Patriot, Standard Missile, and THAAD systems.
