Zelenskyy: Ukrainian strikes hit logistics and oil sites inside Russia
Ukrainian forces have struck multiple targets on Russian territory and in surrounding maritime areas, including two major logistics facilities deep inside Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday, July 18.
In a post on Telegram, Zelenskyy said the operations targeted sites in the Moscow and Tambov regions, located more than 500 km and around 700 km from the front line, respectively. The strikes were carried out in response to Russian attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, cities and communities, he said.
“Today our long-range sanctions worked in three directions on Russian territory, as well as on our temporarily occupied land and at sea. In particular, in response to Russian strikes on our civilian infrastructure, on our cities and communities, two large logistics facilities were hit — in the Moscow and Tambov regions, at distances of more than 500 and about 700 kilometres from the front line,” Zelenskyy wrote.
According to the Ukrainian leader, the targeted facilities were used by Russia to supply sanctioned components for the production of drones and navigation equipment.
“They were used by Russia to ensure supplies of sanctioned components for the production of drones and navigation equipment. An oil facility was also hit. In addition, our mid-strikes operated against targets in the waters of the Sea of Azov and in the Black Sea,” he said.
