NYT: US set up Ukrainian artillery repair facility in Poland
The US Armed Forces have set up a repair base on the territory of Poland for artillery guns supplied to Ukraine.
Due to the wear and damage received during the fighting, about one-third of the approximately 350 artillery pieces supplied by Western countries to Ukraine are inoperative, The New York Times reports.
According to the publication, organizing the repair of these weapons is a priority task for the US military command in Europe.
For this reason, the US military has set up a repair facility on the territory of Poland.
The paper's sources noted that over the past few months this facility had been used to maintain and repair the guns damaged in Ukraine.
According to the newspaper's sources, the Ukrainian side considers it necessary that such repair bases be located closer to the place of combat operations.
