Azerbaijan freestyle wrestling team wins first place at European Championship

The Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling team took first place at the U-23 European Championship in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.

According to Report, the team retained the title they won in 2022.

Azerbaijani wrestlers won three gold, one silver and one bronze medals, becoming the strongest team on the continent with 140 points. The second place was taken by Türkiye - 129 points, the first three were closed by the Georgian team (125).

It should be noted that Magomed-Bashir Khaniev (70 kg), Turan Bayramov (74 kg) and Islam Ilyasov (97 kg) won gold medals at the championship. Rashid Babazadeh took silver in the 65 kg weight category, and Sabuhi Amiraslanov (79 kg) took bronze.
