Azerbaijani-American archaeological team uncovers ancient burial monuments PHOTO
A joint Azerbaijani-American archaeological expedition has reported significant findings at an ancient settlement site in Azerbaijan's Yardimli district.
Excavations at the Bileh site, located in Urakeran village in the Yardimli district near the Iranian border, have unearthed a series of burial monuments, including stone cist graves, jar burials, and earth graves, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The project is led by Dr. Jeyhun Eminli, a historian and researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. The Azerbaijani team is working in close partnership with American researchers as part of a broader collaborative effort to explore the South Caucasus’ ancient heritage.
Lara Fabian, a US expedition member, hailed the discoveries as “magnificent,” emphasising the cultural significance of the site.
