Azerbaijan sends humanitarian aid to Garabagh Armenians 40 tonnes of cargo on its way to Khankendi / VIDEO
The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society is dispatching a caravan of humanitarian aid from Baku to Aghdam on August 29.
Society's President Novruz Aslan said at the initial stage, a total of 40 tonnes of flour products will be sent.
The cargo is destined for the Armenian residents of Azerbaijan's Garabagh region. It will be supplied to Khankendi from Aghdam on the Aghdam-Khankendi highway.
“We hope that this step will be positively received by the Armenians living in Khankendi and the international community. If we can carry out the evaluation process in the future, we will be able to deliver other products they need,” Aslan said, per Report.
He noted that on August 21, a statement was signed in accordance with the decision of the Management Board of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society.
"According to the philosophy of our statement, it is to help every person, regardless of race, religion, or nationality. After the mentioned statement, we have sent these issues for implementation and now our humanitarian aid is being sent. The management staff of the Red Crescent Society, including our volunteers, will move towards the Aghdam-Khankendi road," Aslan said.
Meanwhile, Caliber's correspondent and political analyst Orkhan Amashov was at the State Reserves Agency, where the cargo was loaded to the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society's trucks, to convey details of the humanitarian supplies.
"In the face of the failure of the International Committee of the Red Cross to fulfil its mandate and to ensure supplies from Aghdam to Khankendi, there are some hopes this effort will be of consequence," Amashov said.
