Great Return: Azerbaijan’s Khojaly hosts first wedding in Seyidbayli in 34 years PHOTO
A wedding has been held in Seyidbayli village in Azerbaijan’s Khojaly district for the first time in 34 years, marking another poignant milestone in the return of former residents to their homes.
The bride’s mother, Aziza Asadova, had spent many years as an internally displaced person before returning to her native Seyidbayli under Azerbaijan’s state Great Return program, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Following her return, Asadova’s daughter, Aisha Mamishova, married Sardar Ramazanov in a ceremony attended by residents and guests.
Ramazanov is a veteran of Azerbaijan’s 44-day Patriotic War and took part in combat operations in the Aghdara direction.
Residents of Seyidbayli and guests at the ceremony blessed the newlyweds and paid tribute to the memory of the martyrs whose sacrifice, they said, made it possible for the community to celebrate the occasion in their homeland.
