Azerbaijan’s Azercosmos says EOSDA updates Karabakh settlement names PHOTO
The map of Azerbaijan on the EOS Data Analytics (EOSDA) platform has been updated following an initiative by the country’s space agency Azercosmos, the agency said.
According to Azercosmos, its team identified outdated settlement names on the platform’s basemap, particularly in the Karabakh region.
The agency provided EOSDA with geographical information from Azerbaijan’s official Open Data Portal, which it said serves as an authoritative source for the country’s official geographical names.

Following a review by EOSDA’s product team, the map data was updated to reflect the official names of settlements including Khankendi, Khojavand, Aghdara and Sugovushan, Azercosmos said.
The agency said the update demonstrated the role of cooperation and authoritative open data in improving geographical accuracy on international digital platforms.
