“Great Return”: Another group of former IDPs arrives in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam UPDATED

Another group of former residents has arrived in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam city after departing from Baku early on September 1 as part of the “Great Return” resettlement program.

At this stage, 117 families, comprising 362 people, have returned to their hometown. Of them, 82 families were resettled from Baku, while the rest came from Barda, Mingachevir, Sumgayit, Aghjabadi, Aghdam, Aghdash, Absheron, Ismayilli, Beylagan and Ganja, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The families were presented with keys to their new apartments upon arrival in Aghdam and subsequently moved into their homes.

With the latest resettlement, 1,048 families have now been provided with accommodation in Aghdam.

Overall, 9,831 families, or 39,631 people, have been provided with housing across 47 settlements in one city and 10 districts of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.

Another group of internally displaced families has departed for Azerbaijan’s Aghdam as part of the “Great Return” initiative to the territories liberated from occupation, with 117 families, or 362 people, being relocated to the city in line with President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions.

The resettled families include 82 families (260 people) from Baku, 10 families (29 people) from Barda District, seven families (19 people) from Mingachevir, five families (18 people) from Sumgayit, four families (10 people) from Aghjabadi District, two families (five people) from Aghdam District, two families (five people) from Agdash District, two families (four people) from Absheron District, one family (six people) from Ismayilli District, one family (four people) from Beylagan District, and one family (two people) from Ganja, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The families had previously been temporarily accommodated in various regions of Azerbaijan, mainly in dormitories, sanatoriums and administrative buildings.

The residents returning to their ancestral homes expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva for the comprehensive state support provided to them.

They also thanked the Azerbaijani Army and the heroic soldiers and officers who liberated the lands from occupation, while honouring the memory of the martyrs who lost their lives in the process.

Following the resettlement on September 1, a total of 931 families, or 3,363 people, will have been relocated to Aghdam.
