Some European countries disrupt Azerbaijani-Armenian negotiations Former Turkish FM says

02 March 2024 15:46

The head of Türkiye's delegation to NATO, former Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, said that some European countries, led by France, are trying to derail the Azerbaijani-Armenian negotiations, APA reports.

He also noted that Azerbaijan has shown sincerity in achieving peace, while external pressure is preventing Armenia from getting closer to signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.

"Türkiye is continuing the normalisation process in coordination with Azerbaijan. Every positive step between Azerbaijan and Armenia will make a positive contribution to the process between Türkiye and Armenia. Georgia, of course, is also important in the region. But these processes are not just important for our region. Issues such as re-opening the Middle Corridor and increasing energy capacities are crucial for Europe and Asia.

Çavuşoğlu stressed the importance of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum for meetings and discussions between the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides.
