Petrol prices in US breaks record

    WORLD  25 May 2022 - 01:33

The cost of petrol at gas stations in the United States on Tuesday, May 24, set another record, reaching an average value of $4.598 per gallon (3.785 litres), according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).

The price of a gallon of “Regular” petrol on Tuesday was two cents higher than Monday, according to Gazeta.

At the same time, diesel fuel has risen in price to $5.549 per gallon. The most expensive petrol traditionally turned out to be in California - a gallon of fuel costs an average of $6,069 at the State’s petrol stations.

The increase in petrol prices has been observed in the US for several months. In recent weeks, amidst rising oil prices, it is gaining momentum - on May 17, the price of fuel reached $4.5 per gallon, while a year ago this figure was at $3.

By late March, US President Joe Biden accused the Russian authorities of a record increase in petrol prices in the country.

He called the situation with fuel prices a crisis and noted that "Putin's rise in price" hits ordinary Americans at petrol stations.
