Fixed-wing striker UAV ALPAGU has successfully completed its final ammunition tests. The system will enter the inventory this year. The KERKES project, where UAVs can fly without the need for GPS, is also expected to come into operation this year.

After the tactical mini UAV KARGU and BOYGA, which can drop ammunition, entered the inventory, it was time for the fixed-wing shooter UAV ALPAGU, TRT Haber reports.

The ammunition tests of ALPAGU, a capability that very few countries in the world have, have been successfully completed. The system is expected to enter the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces this year.

Speaking about ALPAGU's capabilities, STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz said, "You can't even raise your head if you're ambushed, but it's a platform that you can easily carry in your backpack, where you can detect who you're shooting at and can directly attack them, thanks to the platform that stays in the air for about 15 minutes." 

The need for GPS will be eliminated with KERKES.

All these vehicles need a GPS connection to operate in the field. STM company also implemented the KERKES project, which will eliminate this need.

KERKES, whose tests have been completed to a large extent, will be finished soon.

With KERKES, maps will be preloaded on the UAVs. Sensors and artificial intelligence will successfully accomplish the task by comparing the map with the data obtained from the terrain at the points where there is no GPS connection or where it is blocked by the enemy.

KERKES is expected to start working on STM UAVs in the TAF inventory this year.

The system will also be made available for all UAVs in the inventory.
