WSJ uncovers details of Israel’s planned June strikes on Iran
The Israeli leadership reportedly began preparing a significant operation targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities and key military and scientific personnel as early as November 2024.
A confidential meeting was held in November 2024, bringing together 120 high-ranking officials from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israeli Air Force command, and intelligence agencies, Caliber.Az reports via WSJ.
At this meeting, a detailed list of 250 targets was approved, encompassing nuclear programme sites, military infrastructure, and key individuals such as senior Iranian commanders and nuclear physicists. Alongside this, Israeli authorities prioritised identifying Iran’s air defense systems to effectively neutralize them, facilitating airstrikes as part of the operation.
Israel’s extensive spy network in Iran, developed since the mid-1990s, has played a crucial role in gathering intelligence on nuclear facilities, air defense installations, and targeted personnel. Following the decision, agents spent months covertly smuggling hundreds of disassembled drones into Iran, intended for deployment near air defense sites to be destroyed in the initial phase of the planned operation.
