Uzbekistan Airways, China Southern Airlines sign code-share agreement

Flag carrier Uzbekistan Airways and China Southern Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement aimed at expanding air connectivity between Uzbekistan and China, news outlet UzDaily reported on July 25, 2026.

The commercial arrangement will allow passengers to purchase tickets for flights operated by either airline using standard reservation systems, streamlining travel booking between the two nations.

Under the terms of the agreement, code-sharing will cover Uzbekistan Airways routes connecting Tashkent with Beijing Daxing International Airport, Guangzhou, Urumqi, and Hangzhou. It will also encompass China Southern Airlines flights operating from Beijing Daxing, Guangzhou, and Urumqi into Tashkent.

Umid Khusanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board at Uzbekistan Airways, highlighted the strategic importance of East Asia for the Uzbek flag carrier.

"The partnership with China Southern Airlines will strengthen our position in the Asian market and give passengers more freedom and comfort in planning their travels," Khusanov said.

Zhang Dongsheng, Deputy General Manager of the Commercial Steering Committee at China Southern Airlines, stated that the cooperation would reinforce the route network, broaden customer services, and support the broader objectives of the Silk Road Economic Belt.

According to Uzbekistan Airways, the integration of both airlines' route networks is expected to boost tourism flows while enhancing economic, commercial, and cultural ties between Uzbekistan and China. Ticket sales for the shared flights are scheduled to open shortly.
