India’s education minister resigns after exam leak protests

India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned following nationwide student protests over the leak of examination materials, which forced the postponement of key medical entrance tests.

Pradhan announced his decision in a post on social media platform X, as per Caliber.Az.

The resignation comes after days of demonstrations across the country, sparked by a major examination scandal. Authorities were forced to delay medical entrance exams from May to June after test questions were leaked.

More than 2.2 million candidates sat for the exams across over 550 cities, making it one of the largest testing exercises in the country.

Protesters blamed the education ministry for the breach and called for Pradhan’s resignation, arguing that the incident undermined the integrity of the examination system.
