AfD tops German polls again as support rises to 27%
The right-wing party Alternative for Germany has once again topped voter opinion polls in Germany, increasing its support, according to recent survey data.
The survey states that if elections were held this Sunday, 27% of respondents would vote for AfD — up by one percentage point compared to last month, Polityka Strany reports, citing YouGov.
Meanwhile, the conservative bloc CDU/CSU has fallen to 23%, while the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) has declined to 13%. The Alliance 90/The Greens has overtaken the Social Democrats, rising to 14%.
The poll also indicates growing dissatisfaction with the federal government, with 79% of respondents expressing disapproval of its performance. Among CDU supporters, approval reportedly dropped from 48% in March to 34% in April.
The AfD continues to advocate for ending support for Ukraine and opposes assistance for Ukrainian refugees, positions that remain central to its political platform.
