Al Arabiya: Netanyahu may meet with Erdogan at Trump’s request
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may hold a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the request of US President Donald Trump, Al Arabiya reported, citing Israel’s Channel 12.
The potential encounter between the two leaders would mark another significant diplomatic development as the long-anticipated Middle East Peace Summit officially opened in Egypt’s resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh. The summit is co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and President Trump, underscoring Washington and Cairo’s joint efforts to mediate stability in the region.

Leaders and senior representatives from more than 20 countries have gathered for the high-level forum. Among those in attendance are the president of Azerbaijan, the king of Jordan, the emir of Qatar, the prime minister of Kuwait, the king of Bahrain, and the head of Palestine. The presidents of Türkiye, Indonesia, France, and Cyprus, as well as the German chancellor, are also present. Additionally, the summit brings together the prime ministers of Britain, Italy, Spain, Greece, Armenia, Hungary, Pakistan, Canada, Norway, and Iraq, along with the vice president of the United Arab Emirates.
Beyond the heads of state and government, key global and regional organisations are also represented. The UN Secretary-General, the head of the Arab League, the president of the European Council, Oman’s foreign minister, a representative of India’s Foreign Ministry, and Japan’s ambassador to Cairo have all joined the gathering.
The Sharm el-Sheikh summit aims to secure lasting peace in the Gaza Strip, enhance regional stability, and usher in a new era of cooperation and security across the Middle East.
The event follows President Trump’s 20-point “Peace Plan,” unveiled on September 29, which outlines a comprehensive framework to end the fighting and establish a long-term political and humanitarian solution to the Gaza crisis.
