Anti-Turkish content to be removed from Syrian textbooks
Türkiye plans to open two schools in Syria’s Damascus and Aleppo, with efforts underway to remove anti-Turkish statements from Syrian school textbooks inherited from the Assad regime.
According to Habertürk, officials from both countries will first revise history and geography courses, which are the primary focus of the reform. A new Syrian curriculum is being developed to replace the outdated content.
Turkish educators will help teach Syrian children returning from Türkiye who have limited proficiency in Arabic. New educational centres will be established in regions with a high concentration of recently returned students.
Two Turkish schools are set to open in Aleppo and Damascus, with Syrian teachers receiving training both in Turkey and in Syria. During his recent visit to Damascus, Turkish Education Minister Yusuf Tekin outlined the roadmap for the project, emphasising the priority of updating educational content and supporting reintegration for returning students.
