Armenia calls for "balanced" approach in selecting peace agreement signing venue with Azerbaijan
Armenia advocates for a balanced approach in choosing the location and timing for signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, though the exact venue and date have yet to be determined said Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council, Armen Grigoryan.
According to Grigoryan, the country has not proposed any specific locations for the signing of the agreement, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
However, he suggested that it would be logical to select a "balanced" option.
In response to a question regarding the lack of a public release of the text of the agreement, Grigoryan explained that the public had already received detailed information about the contents of the agreement through previous discussions.
"I understand the public's interest in the agreement. However, given that no agreement has been reached on the time and place [of signing], we continue to work. Once this happens, the text will be made public," Grigoryan added.
Note that, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed his readiness to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, confirming that the draft agreement is finalised and awaiting his signature. The announcement came after both Yerevan and Baku concluded negotiations on March 13. The Armenian Foreign Ministry is now preparing consultations on the signing details.
However, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that Armenia must amend its constitution to remove territorial claims before the agreement can be signed. He also called for the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, which Azerbaijan believes is no longer relevant.
