Armenia's ex-defence minister to attend session of commission on 44-day war
Former Armenian Defence Minister David Tonoyan has decided to attend the sitting of the commission on the investigation of the circumstances of the 44-day war in 2020.
Tonoyan attributes his decision to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's recent speeches at the commission, as well as a statement by former Chief of General Staff Onik Gasparyan, which touched on many of the circumstances and events surrounding the war, Caliber.Az reports, quoting Armenian media.
Initially, Tonoyan had set a condition for his participation in the commission's session - that it should be open and in the presence of Pashinyan.
The commission rejected that condition, but taking into account the public demand and the above-mentioned factors, Tonoyan has nevertheless decided to attend the Commission.
To this end, the ex-minister in pre-trial detention submitted an application to the judge of the Anti-Corruption Court Vahe Dolmazian for permission to attend the sitting of the commission.
Earlier, Pashinyan blamed the Armenian military leadership for "inaction" during the clashes with the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in 2020 aiming at overthrowing the government.
