EU chief warns Europe faces critical security crossroads “Neither War Nor Peace”
The European Union does not consider itself to be in a state of peace, but it has not yet entered a state of war, according to EU foreign affairs chief, Kaja Kallas.
Speaking at the annual conference of the European Defence Agency in Brussels on January 20, Kallas stated that the EU is in a state of "neither war nor peace," Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
In her address, Kallas referred to Russia as an "existential threat" to Europe and argued that Ukraine is buying time for the EU to prepare for a potential conflict.
She also outlined that the EU has already provided €134 billion in aid to Ukraine, including €50 billion for military support. By the end of January, the number of Ukrainian soldiers trained by EU countries will reach 75,000.
Kallas stressed that with the EU's support, Ukraine has the capacity to prevail in the ongoing conflict.
She added that Brussels is prepared to continue assisting Kyiv, even if this means doing so without the support of the United States. "We will do this together with our partners or on our own," she remarked.
