26 March 2026 15:35

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who is visiting Astana on an official trip, according to a statement from the presidential press service.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the continued strengthening of strategic partnership and allied relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. They also pointed to the strong momentum of mutually beneficial dialogue and the effective implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.

The discussions underscored the scale of economic cooperation, noting that 122 major projects worth approximately $25 billion have already been carried out, while bilateral trade turnover is nearing $30 billion.

“Russia is our main trade, economic and investment partner, and we are, of course, pleased about this,” Tokayev said.

The meeting also focused on preparations for the upcoming state visit of Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan.
