Hungary’s Orbán demands “bring back” alleged Ukrainian spies
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has claimed that “spies” from Ukraine have infiltrated the opposition party Tisza and demanded that they be “brought home,” Telex reports, citing a video statement by the prime minister.
In his video address on March 26, Orbán called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to “immediately order his agents to return and respect the will of the Hungarian people.”
According to Orbán, Ukraine activated its agents within Hungary’s political circles ahead of the elections. The prime minister also referred to “Ukrainian spies and Ukrainian-paid IT specialists” allegedly linked to Tisza.
Orbán stressed that these are “elections of exceptional external interference” and said that Hungarian authorities are constantly combating foreign meddling to ensure citizens can vote without manipulation.
Earlier, the National Security Committee reported that two IT specialists, previously cooperating with Tisa, allegedly had connections to Ukraine and had visited the country’s embassy in Budapest.
