Egypt, Syria coordinate on economic ties and regional stability
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with his Syrian counterpart Assad al-Shaibani to discuss bilateral relations and ongoing developments in the Middle East, according to a statement released on the official website of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministers focused on strengthening economic and trade ties, implementing outcomes from a recent visit by an Egyptian economic delegation to Syria, and supporting Syria’s reconstruction efforts.
They also addressed the threat of military escalation in the region, including recent developments involving Iran, as well as the situations in Palestine and Lebanon.
Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s firm condemnation of violations by Israel, including its ground invasion into southern Lebanon, and warned about the potential consequences that further escalation could have on regional security.
