Armenian journalist files lawsuit against PM’s wife over defamation
Boris Murazi, editor of the Armenian news website Politik.am, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Anna Hakobyan, the wife of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to a report by Yerevan-based Hraparak daily, Murazi is demanding a public retraction, a formal apology, and financial compensation from Hakobyan for what he describes as false and defamatory statements, Caliber.Az reports.
The journalist is seeking 2 million drams (approximately $5,200) in damages.
“Yes, I confirm the information,” Murazi told Hraparak. “This is not a personal matter for me. She has spread fake news about dozens of people, slandered members of the clergy, and published the most revolting post about me. I have filed a lawsuit and will ensure that a member of the Pashinyan family is held accountable for her antisocial behaviour.”
