Russia shifts Shahed drone production underground at Alabuga
Russia’s Alabuga Special Economic Zone is building underground production facilities for Shahed-type drones, according to Dnipro Osint.
The facility has already constructed about 42,000 square meters of underground space intended for future production capacity, Dnipro Osint reported.
At the same time, Russian authorities are dispersing the infrastructure and providing additional protection for the facilities, according to the report.
The Alabuga Special Economic Zone is Russia’s largest and most economically successful industrial zone. It is located in the Yelabuga district of the Republic of Tatarstan, about 200 kilometres from Kazan.
Alabuga is the largest special economic zone of the industrial-production type in Russia. During the full-scale war against Ukraine, it has become Russia’s main production site for assembling Shahed/Geran-type attack drones.
The facility is located near the city of Yelabuga in Tatarstan, about 1,200 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
