Armenian president signs decree dismissing justice minister from his post
Armenian Justice Minister Grigor Minasyan has been relieved of his post.
The relevant decree was signed by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan at the suggestion of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Also on October 2, Pashinyan signed a decree on the dismissal of Minasyan's recently appointed deputy, Sirvard Gevorgyan (who was appointed just a month ago, on September 5).
To recap, on October 1, Grigor Minasyan submitted his resignation. This was preceded by the collection of signatures initiated by the ruling faction Civil Contract in order to remove him from the post of Minister.
The media reported that his appointment as the head of the Ministry of Justice initially caused controversy in the ruling faction, as Minasyan is the brother of Mikael Minasyan - former ambassador to the Vatican and son-in-law of Armenia's third president Serzh Sargsyan.
