Austria hosts event dedicated to COP29
On the initiative and with the organisational support of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Austria, an event dedicated to the priorities of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Azerbaijan was held in Vienna.
As the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Austria said, the event was attended by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Austria, Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to international organizations in Vienna Rovshan Sadigbeyli, Director General of the UN Vienna Office and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime Ghada Waly, heads of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN Industrial Development Organization, the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs, as well as members of diplomatic missions of foreign countries in Vienna, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Sadigbeyli and Deputy Foreign Minister Rzayev noted that Azerbaijan plays a leading role in achieving a climate-friendly, equitable and sustainable future, acting as a bridge between North, South, East and West, as well as promoting global solidarity and unity in preventing global warming.
In their speeches, representatives of international organisations praised the measures adopted and implemented by the COP29 chairmanship, gave details of the work done in the field of combating environmental crime, monitoring and mitigating climate change, promoting environmental factors in the development of economic activities, as well as the activities planned by international organisations within the framework of COP29.
An exhibition organised as part of the event featured photos from important meetings and discussions held by the COP29 chairmanship and negotiators, as well as projects implemented by UN institutions in the field of climate change.
