Azerbaijan, Congo discuss opportunities for expanding ties in some spheres
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Personal Representative of the President of the Republic of Congo for Strategic Issues and International Negotiations Francoise Joly on March 6.
The agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Congo was discussed at the meeting, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The development of cooperation with African countries is one of the priorities of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy. Wide opportunities for expanding relations in the political, trade, economic, energy, educational and humanitarian spheres were noted.
Satisfaction was expressed with the mutual support of Azerbaijan and Congo within the Non-Aligned Movement, the UN and other international organisations and platforms. The possibilities for Congo’s students to study in Azerbaijan were considered as part of a scholarship programme for member states of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Bayramov noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-29), which will be held in Azerbaijan this year, will open up additional opportunities for cooperation.
