Top diplomat: Azerbaijan, Switzerland implementing key projects

Azerbaijan and Switzerland are implementing a number of key projects, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said on August 4.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Swiss Federal Councillor, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ignazio Cassis, Bayramov said the two sides had discussed the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland, as well as prospects for their further development.

They also discussed relations between Azerbaijan and the OSCE.

Bayramov said the talks also covered the post-conflict situation in the region, the military confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and other issues.

“We hold regular telephone conversations and political consultations. In 2027, Azerbaijan and Switzerland will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, providing a good opportunity to further strengthen our ties.

Bilateral trade has increased to $1.8 billion, while total investment has reached $2.3 billion. Around 140 Swiss companies operate in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and Switzerland are jointly implementing major projects in agriculture, industry, construction, services and other sectors,” Jeyhun Bayramov said.
