Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, has marked the Day of the Azerbaijani Alphabet and the Azerbaijani Language, describing the country's native language as a cornerstone of national identity and statehood.
In a post on X marking the occasion on August 1, Hajiyev stressed the importance of preserving and promoting the Azerbaijani language for future generations, Caliber.Az reports.

“1 August - Day of the Azerbaijani Alphabet and the Azerbaijani Language,” he wrote.
He said the Azerbaijani language is one of the main pillars of the nation's identity, statehood and cultural heritage, and called on citizens to help safeguard and develop it.
“Our native language is one of the main pillars of our national identity, statehood, and cultural heritage. Protecting our language, enriching it, and passing it on to future generations in its pure form is the responsibility of each and every one of us,” Hajiyev wrote.
