South Caucasus already in de facto state of peace – Azerbaijani top official

The South Caucasus is already in a de facto state of peace, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev stated.

Hajiyev made the remarks in comments to Turkish broadcaster Haber Global while discussing the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process and regional cooperation, Caliber.Az reports.

According to the presidential aide, recent developments indicate that Armenia has begun the process of adopting a new constitution.

"Once these territorial claims are removed from the constitution, Azerbaijan sees no obstacle to signing a final peace agreement. Moreover, our region is already in a de facto state of peace," he said.

The presidential aide also highlighted the close ties between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

"At every table where Türkiye is absent, Azerbaijan is present, and at every table where Azerbaijan is absent, Türkiye is present. We respond decisively to every step directed against the interests of our countries, and this will continue in the future," he noted.
