17 January 2025 14:04

In a recent meeting at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, Minister Teymur Musaev welcomed Hungary’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Tamás József Torma.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the successful collaboration between the two countries in healthcare and medical sciences, Caliber.Az reports.

Minister Musaev expressed his satisfaction with the fruitful partnership between Azerbaijan and Hungary, which operates within international frameworks, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Organization of Turkic States.

He pointed out that bilateral cooperation is also progressing dynamically, particularly in the field of medical education. He noted that the Azerbaijan Medical University is actively collaborating with Hungarian universities such as Semmelweis and Pecs.

A key focus of the discussion was the pharmaceutical industry, which Minister Musaev described as one of the most vital sectors of modern economies. He emphasized the quality of Hungarian pharmaceutical products, stating that several medical institutions in Azerbaijan are equipped with Hungarian-made medical devices.

The minister also voiced confidence in the continued growth of bilateral relations, particularly in the healthcare sector.

Ambassador Torma expressed his condolences to the people of Azerbaijan following the tragic loss of life in the recent plane crash involving the Baku-Grozny flight. He reiterated that the diplomatic ties between Hungary and Azerbaijan are at a high level across all areas, including healthcare. The ambassador highlighted that in 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministries of Health of Azerbaijan and Hungary, facilitating cooperation in healthcare and medical sciences.

Looking to the future, Ambassador Torma pointed to new opportunities in medical education, mentioning that there is a significant potential for an increase in the number of Azerbaijani students pursuing medical education in Hungary.

The meeting concluded with discussions on current trends and future opportunities for expanding the Azerbaijani-Hungarian cooperation in healthcare, medical sciences, and the pharmaceutical industry.
