Azerbaijan’s military chief strengthens NATO ties at Brussels meeting PHOTO
Colonel-General Kerim Veliyev, Azerbaijan's First Deputy Minister of Defence and Chief of General Staff, recently attended the NATO Military Committee Chiefs of Staff meeting in Brussels, where he highlighted the growing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the North Atlantic Alliance.
At the meeting, Veliyev addressed a distinguished audience of military leaders from NATO member states and partner nations, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.
He spoke of Azerbaijan's steadfast contributions to international peace, detailing the country’s involvement in the Resolute Support Mission and other NATO operations. He also shared insights on the valuable experience Azerbaijani servicemen have gained through participation in NATO exercises and initiatives.
Veliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan, a country that has fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty, remains committed to making a continued, substantial contribution to both regional and global security.
During his visit, Veliyev also held bilateral discussions with several of his counterparts. One notable meeting was with General Metin Gürak, Chief of General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, where both leaders reaffirmed the strength of the military ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
The meeting in Brussels underscored Azerbaijan’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its cooperation with NATO, reinforcing the country’s role as a partner dedicated to fostering peace and stability on the global stage.
