Azerbaijan to open tourism representation office in Russia
Azerbaijan’s tourism representation office will be inaugurated in Russia’s capital Moscow on October 25.
This office will play a key role in promoting Azerbaijan's tourism opportunities in the Russian market, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani embassy in Russia.
"The primary objectives of the representation office include fostering collaboration with major players in Russia's tourism sector, engaging with the media, liaising with the state tourism agencies, and disseminating information on digital B2C platforms," the statement said.
The opening ceremony will be attended by Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev, representatives from the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the Moscow City Hall, embassy staff, officials from state institutions, as well as representatives from leading tourism companies and journalists.
Russian Economic Development Minister Maksim Reshetnikov held a meeting with Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev in Moscow.
The two officials discussed collaboration in winter sports tourism and Caspian Sea tourism, as well as the partnership between higher education institutions in both countries focused on training professionals for the tourism industry.
“Azerbaijan is among the most popular countries for tourists from Muslim nations, and Russia is keenly interested in this market. We are currently working to implement federal standards for 'Halal' and 'Muslim-friendly' tourism. The Russian business community has responded enthusiastically to the strengthening and intensification of the Russia-Azerbaijan relations. As a result, the tourist flow increased by nearly 40 per cent in the first quarter of 2024 compared to last year, reaching 173,000 trips,” the Russian minister said.
