Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan discuss military-technical cooperation Video
Azerbaijani Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and a high-level delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Secretary of the Security Council Viktor Mahmudov and Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, held talks to bolster military cooperation between the two countries on December 10.
The discussions centered around enhancing bilateral ties in the military, military-technical, and military-educational sectors, and culminated in the signing of a military cooperation plan for 2026, Caliber.Az reports via Defence Ministry.
During their visit to Azerbaijan, the Uzbek delegation first honoured the legacy of Azerbaijan's National Leader Heydar Aliyev by laying wreaths at his grave in the Alley of Honour, alongside the resting place of academician and ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva. They also visited Victory Park, where they paid tribute at the Victory Monument.
An official welcoming ceremony at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence followed, with the Uzbek delegation greeted by an honour guard and the national anthems of both countries performed. As part of the diplomatic protocol, the visitors signed the “Book of Honour.”
In a meeting with Azerbaijani minister of defence, the two sides emphasised the strong, friendly, and fraternal relations that form the basis of their growing military cooperation.
Both delegations discussed the ongoing and future collaboration between the Azerbaijani and Uzbek armed forces, highlighting the importance of mutual support in military training and technical advancement.
At the conclusion of the talks, the two countries signed a bilateral military cooperation plan for 2026, setting the stage for even closer collaboration in the years ahead.
The Uzbek delegation also toured key departments within the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army, gaining insights into Azerbaijan's military structure and operations.
