Azerbaijani FM: Armenia preparing for large-scale military provocation Telephone conversation between Azerbaijani FM, US State Department official
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried have discussed the latest growing tension on the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border.
In a telephone conversation on September 13, the two officials focused on the ongoing clashes and tensions as a result of Armenia's large-scale provocation, Caliber.Az reports quoting the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry press service.
Bayramov briefed Donfried about the Armenian Armed Forces' large-scale provocations on the territories bordering Azerbaijan, measures taken to prevent military threats to Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, to ensure the safety of Azerbaijani servicemen and civilian workers involved in infrastructure work.
The minister stressed that Armenia has been constantly shelling Azerbaijani positions and the civilian population over the past month, increasing militarisation along the Azerbaijani borders, and continuing to mine territories, which is an indication that Armenia is preparing for a large-scale military provocation.
Karen Donfried expressed concern about the growing tensions and military clashes in the region and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
