Azerbaijani ombudsman addresses Armenian residents of Garabagh
Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudswoman) Sabina Aliyeva has said that the Republic of Azerbaijan, which is a democratic, legal, secular country, as a result of local anti-terrorism measures carried out on September 19-20, 2023, fully ensured its sovereignty over the territory recognised by international law, eliminating circumstances that posed a big threat to the rights and freedoms of citizens.
“Azerbaijan is taking measures aimed at effectively protecting the rights and freedoms of every citizen, regardless of ethnicity, religion, language, race and other affiliation, including citizens of Armenian origin living in Garabagh,” APA reports, citing Aliyeva’s statement on ensuring and protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens of Armenian origin living in Garabagh.
“As the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I state that special attention is paid to ensuring and protecting the rights and freedoms of our citizens of Armenian origin living in Garabagh as enshrined in national legislation and international documents. We would like to state that citizens of Armenian origin living in Garabagh, like any citizen of the country, in case of any problems with their rights and freedoms, can contact the Ombudsman via “916” phone number, which operates round-the-clock, and also write a message on the page of the ombudsman’s office on social networks, or in e-form,” Aliyeva added.
