Azerbaijani Prime Minister meets with chairman of Georgian Parliament
Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has met with Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, who is on an official visit to the country.
During the meeting, Asadov expressed confidence that Papuashvili's visit would contribute to the development of Azerbaijani-Georgian relations, Report informs.
He stressed that Azerbaijan and Georgia always support each other within the international organisations, particularly on the issues of territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The sides noted that the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines make a significant contribution to the economic development of both Azerbaijan and Georgia, while the Southern Gas Corridor is of strategic importance for ensuring Europe's energy security.
New projects and initiatives involving both countries were discussed at the meeting. One of them is the project of laying an underwater cable that will ensure the supply of Azerbaijani "green" electricity to Romania via Georgia and the Black Sea.
The sides expressed confidence that the Tbilisi State Azerbaijan Drama Theatre named after Heydar Aliyev, founded in October in Tbilisi, will contribute to strengthening Azerbaijani-Georgian relations of good-neighborliness and brotherhood.
The meeting also discussed opportunities of expanding cooperation between the two countries in various spheres and other issues of mutual interest.
